The above words are often echoed by hypocrites from liberal circles and those who go to school with them when some Muslims try to defend Islam or the Muslims. Then, is what they say true?
Jewish word play
These words include what the scholars call the term,
Right word intended to void
"Words that are outwardly true, but the intended meaning is false."
This is like the behavior of the Jews who like to play with words to harass the Muslims as Allah Ta'ala said,
O you who have believed, do not say, “We are watching,” and say, “Behold, and listen.” For the unbelievers will be a painful punishment.
“O you who believe, do not say 'raa'inaa' but say 'unzhurnaa' and listen. And for those who disbelieve is a painful punishment. " (QS. Al-Baqarah: 104)
The scholars of tafsir explain that the reason for the revelation of this verse is because the Jews said to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam with the word " raa'inaa " which is multitafsir. It can mean "O Messenger of Allah, pay attention to us." And it can also mean "You are the fool among us" as a form of humiliation to him. And the meaning they want is the second meaning. This is a word that is outwardly true, but the intended meaning is falsehood. And the believers are forbidden to say such words.
The Lord of the worlds does not need help
Of course, Allah, the Lord of the worlds, does not need help or defense from anyone. Allah Ta'ala says,
“Say, Who in whose hand is the power of the heavens and the earth? He is the one who provides protection and He does not need protection. If you really know. ” (QS. Al-Mukminun: 88).
Allah Ta'ala also said,
"Say, 'Praise be to God who does not need to have children. He does not need a partner to control the universe. He is not so weak that he needs a helper. And glorify Him (Allah) with truth. " (QS. Al-Isra ': 111)
Allah Ta'ala does not need our good deeds. Allah Ta'ala commands us to worship Him, but not because He needs to be worshiped. Allah Ta'ala says,
"I did not create the jinn and humans, but that they should worship Me (only). I do not want any sustenance from them and I do not want them to feed Me. Lo! Allah, He is the Sustainer, the Mighty, the Strong. " (QS. Adz-Dzariyat: 56-58)
We worship or not, we do good deeds or not, we obey or disobey, we are immoral or not, it has no effect on the greatness of Allah Ta'ala . If all human beings from the time of Prophet Adam until the Day of Judgment were all faithful and pious, the greatness of Allah Ta'ala remained in His perfection. If all human beings from the time of Prophet Adam until the Day of Judgment are all infidels and disbelievers in Allah Ta'ala , it does not reduce His power at all. In a hadith qudsi Allah Ta'ala said,
O my servants, if I first and your other and your sender, and your sender were on the heart of one man from you, what this has increased in my property.
"O My servant, if all mankind and the jinn from the earliest to the last, all of them became the most pious, that would not increase My power in the slightest. O My servants, if all mankind and the jinn, from the earliest to the last, all became the most disobedient, that would not reduce My power in the slightest.” (Narrated by Muslim no. 2577, from Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari radhiyallahu 'anhu )
This is a matter that is clear and obvious to all rational people.
Defending Allah means defending Islam and the Muslims
As for the word of Allah Ta'ala,
"O you who believe! If you defend Allah, Allah will help you and strengthen your feet." (Surah Muhammad: 7)
Allah Ta'ala also said,
"And verily Allah will help those who defend Him. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Glorious " (Surat al-Hajj: 40)
Al-Qurthubi rahimahullah interpreted the verse in surah Muhammad above,
That is, if you support the religion of God, He will help you against the infidels
"What it means is that if you defend Allah's religion, Allah will help you." (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi)
Al-Baghawi rahimahullah explained,
O you who believe, if you support God, that is, His religion and His Messenger
“' O you who believe! If you defend Allah, it means defending the religion of Allah and His Messenger. " (Tafsir Al-Baghawi)
Shaykh As-Sa'di rahimahullah explained,
This is an order from Almighty God for the believers, to help God by performing His religion, calling to Him, and jihad against His enemies, and the intention is by that the face of God.
“In this verse Allah Ta'ala commands the believers to defend Allah, namely by upholding His religion, preaching Islam and jihad against the enemies of Islam. And the purpose of doing it all is to hope for the face of Allah.” (Tafsir As-Sa'di)
So, what is meant by " defending Allah " in the verses above is defending Islam and the Muslims. Because Muslims are creatures who need defense. Likewise, Islam needs to be upheld and defended because when Islam is weak and humiliated, its adherents will be weak and humiliated as well.
And the most important of all this is that this is the thing that Allah the Exalted has said and commanded . How can we abandon Allah 's commandments to follow the words of despicable liberals?
The fact of their words
The hypocrites who say "Allah does not need to be defended" actually what they mean is "there is no need to amar ma'ruf and nahi mungkar ".
Ma'ruf (good) deeds do not need to be ordered and communicated to others. Evil deeds do not need to be prevented and denied. The perpetrators of disbelief and shirk, let them. The perpetrators of heresy and immorality should not be harassed and should not be prohibited. That's what they mean.
Whereas Allah Ta'ala and His Messenger command us to amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar according to ability. Allah T a'ala mentions the words of Luqmanul Hakim,
“O my son! Establish prayer, do amar ma'ruf and nahi mungkar, and be patient in the face of difficulties when doing so. Because in fact it is all a noble thing. " (QS. Luqman: 17)
Allah Ta'ala also said,
"You (the believers) are the best people who were born in the midst of human beings, you are virtuous and do not be evil and believe in God." (QS. Ali Imran: 110)
And this religion of Islam is a religion of advice so that all the teachings of Islam do not allow the existence of evil and try to make improvements as possible. From Tamim ad-Dari radhiyallahu 'anhu , the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wasallam said,
"Religion is advice." The friends asked, "For whom?" He replied, "For Allah, His Book, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims, and all Muslims." (HR. Muslim no. 55)
Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam ordered us to do amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar in his words,
Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand, and if he is not able, then with his tongue, and if he is not able to change it, then reject it.
"Whoever sees wickedness, then change it with his hands. If you can't afford it, then change it verbally. If you can't afford it, then change it with your heart. And that is the weakest part of faith. ” (HR. Muslim no. 49, from Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri radhiyallahu 'anhu )
And advising someone from his faults is in fact an effort to help and love him. From Anas bin Malik radhiyallahu 'anhu , the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wasallam said,
Support your brother, whether he is unjust or oppressed. They said: O Messenger of God, we help him when he is oppressed, so how can we help him when he is an oppressor? He said: Take over his hands
"Help your oppressive and oppressed brother." The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah, we understand that the oppressed must be helped, but how to help the oppressors?" He said, "Pull his hand (from doing injustice)." (HR. Bukhari no. 2444)
These are the propositions about the obligation of amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar in general. And the scholars ijma '(agreed) about the obligation of amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar as quoted by Ibn' Athiyyah, An-Nawawi, and Al-Juwaini rahimahumullah .
However, of course, amar ma'ruf nahi munkar must be done with knowledge, it should not be careless which will actually cause greater damage. Umar bin Abdil Aziz rahimahullah said,
Whoever worships without knowledge, what spoils more than corrects
"People who worship without knowledge, he will do more damage than repair." (HR. Ad-Darimi, 1/102)
In conclusion, there is no need to listen to the words of the hypocrites who say, "God does not need to be defended". Because the meaning of this word is an invitation to abandon amar ma'ruf and nahi mungkar, which is clearly false and very far from the guidance of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Continue to be eager to study the science of religion, practice it, preach it, and defend it, in order to reach the face of God alone.
May Allah Ta'ala give taufik.
