The most beautiful gift

Praise be to Allah Ta'ala , Rabb who has created us and those before us so that we believe and istikamah on obedience to Him. May blessings and peace be upon the last Prophet and the beloved of Ar-Rahman, the bearer of guidance and the true religion to be won over all existing religions. Amma ba'du.

My brothers and sisters.

We live in an era full of trials from Allah Al-'Aziz Al-Hakim. The trials and tribulations that surround mankind are like torrential rains that water the earth, sometimes even surging to attack one after another like ocean waves crashing on the shores. Glory be to Allah from doing useless deeds. Indeed, with trials and calamities that befell mankind, it will show us who are those who are steadfast in His path, and who are those who fall and deviate from His straight path.

Istikamah is a very noble matter, to which no answer will be found, except from the answer of a messenger of the Lord of the worlds. Imam Muslim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates in his Sahih ,

“From Sufyan bin Abdullah Ats-Tsaqafi. he said, 'I said,' O Messenger of Allah, tell me a saying in Islam that I will not ask anyone after You. ' Meanwhile, in the narration of Abu Usamah with the phrase, "people other than you." He (Rasulullah) replied, 'Say,' I believe in Allah, then istikamahlah. " (Narrated by Muslim in the Book of Al-Iman , see Syarh Nawawi [2: 91-92])

A matter that is very great and cannot be underestimated, to the point that Ibn Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhuma said when explaining the word of Allah Ta'ala ,

“ Istikamahlah You as you have been commanded. ”(QS. Huud: 112)

Ibn Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhuma said, "It did not come down to the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wasallam in the whole of the Qur'an a verse that is heavier and more difficult for him than this verse." (see Syarh Nawawi [2:92])

To the extent that some scholars as quoted by Abu Al-Qasim Al-Qusyairi rahimahullah said,

"No one can be truly istikamah, but great people." (Mentioned by An-Nawawi in Syarh Muslim [2:92])

Therefore, brothers and sisters, may Allah Ta'ala strengthen us on His path, let us for a moment remember the great blessings that Allah Ta'ala bestowed on Ahlus Sunnah who remain upright on the truth among the various groups who deviate from His path. . This is the greatest blessing and the most beautiful gift that is the ideal of every believer.

Allah Ta'ala says,

Surely those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah, then they istikamah, the angels will descend upon them saying,' Do not be afraid and do not grieve, and rejoice in the Paradise promised to you. ' ”(QS. Fusshilat: 30)

Al-Qadhi 'Iyadh rahimahullah said that what is meant by the above verse (QS. Fusshilat: 30) are those who monotheize Allah Ta'ala and believe in Him, then istikamah and do not turn away from monotheism. They were consistent in carrying out obedience to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala until finally they died in that state. (see Syarh Nawawi [2:92])

Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Nashir As-Sa'di rahimahullah explained that they are the people who acknowledge and pledge their faith. They are happy with the rububiyah of Allah Ta'ala and submit to His command. Then they stay on the straight path with their knowledge and deeds. They are the ones who will have good news in this life and in the Hereafter (see Taisir Al-Karim Ar-Rahman [2: 1037-1038])

Abu Bakr As-Shiddiq radhiyallahu 'anhu said when interpreting the above verse (which means), "Then they remain istikamah", then he said, "It means they do not associate Allah with anything." It was also narrated from him, "That is, they did not turn to a god other than Him." (Mentioned by Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali in Jami 'al-'Ulum , p. 260)

Ali ibn Thalhah narrated from Ibn Abbas radhiyallahu 'anhuma about the meaning of the words of Allah Ta'ala "Indeed those who say,' Our Lord is Allah, then they istikamah ', he said,' That is they istikamah in fulfilling the obligations that Allah burden. '"While Abu Al-'Aliyah said," Then (after saying,' Our Lord is Allah ') then they also sincere to Him religion and deeds. " Qatadah said, "They are steadfast in obedience to Allah." Narrated from Hasan Al-Bashri, when he recited this verse then he prayed, “ Allahumma anta Rabbuna farzuqnal istiqomah. "(O Allah, you are our Lord, grant us the sustenance of piety.) ( Jami 'Al-'Ulum, Thing. 260)

Don't Forget God!

From Abu Hurairah and Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri radhiyallahu 'anhuma , the Prophet sallallaahu' alaihi wasallam said, "On the Day of Judgment a servant will be brought. Then it was said to him, 'Have I not given you hearing, sight, property, and children? I subject to you livestock and crops. I leave you in a state of being a leader and get a quarter of the spoils of war. Did you think you would meet me today? ” The man replied, "No." God also said, "Then today I will forget you." (Narrated by Tirmidhi, he said, "Hadith sahih gharib.", See Al-Ba'ts by Ibn Abi Dawud, pp. 36-37)

Benefits of Hadith

This hadith reminds us of the awfulness of the Day of Judgment. How much a servant needs the help of Allah Ta'ala at that time. However, God's help will only be given to those who believe in God and the last day, namely those who follow the Messenger and practice his teachings.

Allah Ta'ala says,

“ Whoever turns away from My reminder then he will have a narrow life and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection in a state of blindness. He said, 'O my Lord, why did You gather me in a state of blindness when I used to be able to see?' (Allah replied), 'Thus, Our verses have come to you but you forgot them. So, today you are forgotten. ' ”(QS. Thaha: 124-126)

Al-Qurtubi rahimahullah explained the meaning of 'My warning' in the verse above. He said, “It means [whoever turns away] from My religion, does not read My Book, and does not practice its teachings. There are also those who interpret that it means the statements that I have sent down. However, it can also be interpreted that what is meant by this warning is the [presence of] the Apostle, because the warning came through his intermediary.” (see Al-Jami' li Ahkam Al-Qur'an [14:157])

Some scholars say, "No one turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, except the time he spends more and more dark (bad) his condition, scattering his sustenance affairs, and making him always experience hardship in his life." (see Al-Jami 'li Ahkam Al-Qur'an [14: 157])

As for the meaning of "So, today you are forgotten"; Al-Qurthubi rahimahullah said, "The meaning is to be left in a state of torment, namely in Hell." (see Al-Jami 'li Ahkam Al-Qur'an [14: 158])

In another verse, Allah Ta'ala also says,

And it was said, 'Today We forgot you as you used to forget this meeting of your day. Your abode is hell. There is absolutely no help for you. (Surah Al-Jatsiyah: 34)

Al-Qurtubi rahimahullah explained, that the meaning of "you forget this meeting with your day" is that you leave charity for the hereafter. (see Al-Jami' li Ahkam Al-Qur'an [19:173])
